Robotics all the way!

Posted by: ♪Åκšhαt♪ on: 14 August, 2008

As some people might be knowing, the IRO (Indian Robot Olympiad)  2008 is on the 5th of September in Delhi. I had got my Mindstorms NXT kit last year and I was all set to participate this year. Last year, when I participated, everything had gone really smoothly. The playfields (the track for the robot) arrived on time, we had finished our challenge well before the tournament, etc. My group had won last year wth 220 points. The the group which came second got 110 points! So, I had also represented India at the WRO. But, this year, the scenario was completely different. Ideally, the playfields should arrive about two and a half months before the competition. This year, I wasn’t even sure whether the playfields would be ordered or not. So, I made my own playfield at home. It was a tough job, but did it with the help of the data on the official WRO website http://www.wroboto.org/. But, it will definitely be very, very inaccurate. So, I continued to wait for the official playfields to be ordered by our school. But soon, another problem came my way. I needed two light sensors but I had only one NXT light sensor. I tried using a RCX one but it was in vain. Then, the only option left was to buy an NXT light sensor. I bought it yesterday (the 13th of August). And today did the good news come, our school was buying the playfields! But, it would take till about Tuesday or Wednesday for them to arrive. And then very little time would be left to prepare our robot. But as they say,

When the going gets tough, the tough get going.

So, let me just hope for the best as Nikhil (my teammate) and me get set to participate in the IRO.

Feel sorry fr u guys. U didnt get selected this tym na?? but u know what ur flamboyance, extravagance and arrogance made u lose. be a bit more humble and down to earth. Best of luck NXT time

and then u will realize it wasnt my fault.

thanks

yeah i know. Highest were 80pts and second was 50 pts. Hw much did u get?

Hi

thanks

akshat u didnt tell us u had a blog …. nd i feel sry for u guys.I think u ppl became too over-confident.Not all ppl are as luky as we r. right cyborg?

Hey billybob, if the top scorers got 80 points and max challenge points were 90, isnt it obvious they didn’t get all the challenge points? LMAO

hey guys, Anurag(me) and Pranav have scored 100 pts (including time bonus) in the south chapter of IRO 2008 and have outperformed all the robots in the country. We’ve qualified for WRO at Yokohama. We just want to know which is the team coming with us from Delhi so that we can perhaps negotiate an alliance and help each other out to make sure the Indian representation at WRO is fantastic.

hi anurag,

Im the winner of the north chapter of IRO 2008.

If u have completed the challenge, then y would u be needing any help?

And are u Anurag Jain from Mumbai

Hi
Completing the challenge isn’t enough cuz we’re competing against Japs & Koreans. Although we are able to complete the challenge, we need to improve our timing. How many pts did u guys get? btw, we’re from Bangalore not Mumbai.

I’m Anurag Kesari from Bangalore. I just wanted to find out the necessary details so that we can go properly prepared. Our country’s technological reputation is at stake. We can do a good job together you see.
Also, Rahul Gupta doesn’t seem to be checking his mails at all. We need some help from him. We need to ready our documents you know. So can winner of iro north chapter pls try and get in touch vit him? Do lemme know of wat he says

Yeah true. Japs are fast. We’ll try our best to skin ‘em.(hopefully)

btw, winner of iro(north), can u pls tell me your name?
